North Carolina Broker Pre-Licensing Course (Thursday / Friday 9AM - 5PM)

Platinum Institute of Real Estate Prelicensing Course Overview

Session Dates:
June: 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27
July: 3, 10, 11 (Note: No class on July 4th)

Total Course Hours:
84 hours (80 hours of instruction + 4 hours for the final exam)

Tuition Fee:
$420 (Regular price; textbook not included)

Course Description:
This course is designed to prepare students for the North Carolina real estate license examination and to provide them with the fundamental knowledge required to act as licensed real estate brokers in North Carolina. The curriculum focuses on core competencies that foster professionalism and protect the public interest.

Required Textbook:
"Learn, Test, Pass: Real Estate Prelicensing for North Carolina" (available for purchase at Platinum Institute of Real Estate; shipping and handling fees may apply)

Provided Materials:

  • North Carolina Real Estate Manual

  • North Carolina License Law and Commission Rules booklet

  • Platinum Institute Course Packet: Includes all necessary handouts, available for pickup on the first day of class.

Attendance Policy:
A minimum attendance of 90% is required. Students missing more than eight (8) hours, or the first day of class, must retake the course. There is no provision for making up missed time due to lateness or absences.

Participation and Completion Requirements:

  • Active participation in bi-weekly practice exams.

  • Completion of end-of-chapter quizzes one week prior to the final exam.

  • A passing score of 75% on the final course examination is necessary for successful completion.

Final Exam Day:
The last day of class on July 11 includes 5 hours of final review and a 4-hour final examination.

Course Cancellation and Rescheduling:
Platinum Institute reserves the right to cancel or reschedule courses as needed. We require a minimum enrollment of ten (10) students. Affected students will be notified at least 24 hours in advance of any changes. Options available to affected students include rescheduling to another course or receiving a full tuition refund.

2024-2025 Broker-in-Charge - Virtual

The 2024-2025 Broker-in-Charge Update (BICUP) Course is a four (4) hour* course that must be completed by all brokers-in-charge and brokers who have BIC-Eligible status and who wish to renew their license on active status on July 1, 2024, for the 2024-2025 license year. 

Brokers-in-charge and brokers with BIC-Eligible status must take the BICUP course each year to satisfy the Update course requirement and to maintain BIC-Eligible status, as prescribed by Commission Rules 58A .1702 and 58A .0110. 

*Per Commission Rule 58H .0101(7): "Instructional hour" means 50 minutes of instruction and 10 minutes of break time.

2024-2025 General Update (GENUP)

The 2024-2025 General Update (GENUP) Course is a four (4) hour* course that must be completed by all provisional and non-provisional brokers who are not brokers-in-charge and/or do not have BIC-Eligible status and who wish to renew their licenses on active status on July 1, 2025, for the 2024-2025 license year. 

Brokers-in-Charge and brokers with BIC-Eligible status must take the BICUP course each year to satisfy the Update course requirement and to maintain BIC-Eligible status, as prescribed by Commission Rules 58A .1702 and 58A .0110.

Proper disclosure remains a hot-button topic in real estate practice; complicated scenarios can confound even the most seasoned real estate veterans. The content selection and subject matter outline for this course were created by the South Carolina Real Estate Commission’s Education Committee.   • Initial Exam: The required final exam will be available on May 12 in your student dashboard and must be completed under online proctoring.
